This policy explains what happens to information when you use wevolabs.com (“WevoLabs”, “we”, “us”). We have tried to describe what the site actually does, in plain language.
Summary
- There are no accounts. We don’t ask for your name or email to use the tools.
- Text you convert is sent to a speech service to produce audio. It isn’t saved to a database or written to our logs.
- Uploaded PDF and Word files are read and discarded during the same request.
- Your finished takes, drafts and settings are stored in your browser, not on our server.
- Analytics and personalised ads run according to the choice you make in the cookie banner.
Text you convert
When you press Generate, your script, the chosen voice and your speed, pitch and volume settings are sent to our server. Our server passes the text to Microsoft’s online text-to-speech service, which returns the audio. Microsoft processes that text under its own privacy terms.
To avoid synthesizing the same sentence twice, our server keeps the generated audio for each piece of text for up to 48 hours, stored under a one-way fingerprint rather than the text itself. Cached audio is deleted automatically after that. If synthesis fails, we log the voice and the length of the text — not its content.
Please don’t submit text you aren’t allowed to share, or sensitive personal data you wouldn’t want processed by a third-party speech service.
Uploaded documents
When you import a PDF or Word file, it is uploaded to our server, its text is extracted, and the text is sent back to your browser. The file exists only in temporary storage for the duration of that request and is not kept.
Data kept in your browser
These stay on your device and are never sent to us:
- Your takes — generated audio, the script, voice and settings — in your browser’s IndexedDB storage.
- Preferences — last voice, voice settings, theme, favourite and recent voices, script drafts and your multi-speaker cast — in local storage.
- Your consent choice for analytics and advertising.
You can delete takes from the studio at any time, and clearing your browser’s site data for wevolabs.com removes all of the above.
Contact form
If you write to us through the contact form, your name, email address, topic and message are emailed to contact@wevolabs.com so we can reply. We keep that correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up.
Server logs and abuse prevention
Like most websites, our web server and hosting provider record technical request data — IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. To keep the free service available, we also count requests per IP address to enforce rate limits; those counters expire within a day.
Analytics and advertising
With your consent, we use Google Analytics and a self-hosted Matomo installation to understand which pages and tools are used. Without consent, Matomo measures visits without setting cookies, and Google Analytics runs in a restricted, cookieless mode.
The site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure ads; personalised advertising is used only if you allow it in the cookie banner (or, outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland, until you turn it off). You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. See the cookie policy for details and Google’s explanation of how it uses data from partner sites.
Who we share data with
- Microsoft — to synthesize speech from your text.
- Google — analytics and advertising, as described above.
- Our hosting and email providers — to run the site and deliver contact-form messages.
- Authorities — only when we are legally required to.
We don’t sell personal data. Some of these providers process data outside your country.
How long data is kept
- Cached audio on our server: up to 48 hours.
- Uploaded documents: not retained after the request.
- Rate-limit counters: up to 24 hours.
- Contact messages: as long as needed to handle your enquiry.
- Data in your browser: until you delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data we hold about you. Because there are no accounts, the only personal data we normally hold is contact-form correspondence and short-lived technical logs. Email contact@wevolabs.com and we will respond.
Children
WevoLabs is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
